Experience Challenge #2
This week for my bucket list challenge I tried Geocaching! I
had heard about it years ago but never got around to learning about it. My
first attempt was un utter failure. I had my dog walking clients with me and found
one that was super close. My GPS said it was in a mass of brush and forest that
was lined with blackberry bushes. Damn. I tried anyway and walked around the
outcropping of trees a million times before I found a way in. Cue scratches all
over my legs and burrs all over the dog. I’m pretty sure at this point I’m
covered in spiderwebs too. No luck with this one after 15 minutes. Toby, the
dog, is pissed I dragged him through the prickles so we head back and commence
a half hour long brush to get all the burrs out of his fur. Sorry bud.
I tried again and was met with another failure. The clues in
this one seemed pretty easy and I found the hint marker without a problem. I
spent the next little while stomping through the brush and shoving aside fallen
leaves in attempts to find the cache. I few people looked at me weird (Non
geocachers are called muggles haha) while I was bent over in the sticks,
scrounging around for god knows what.
What I DID find was a lone flip flop, a condom wrapper and a
Teletubbies VHS video. Weird.
Zoey met some chickens while I was hunting. The location was
right next to a hobby farm and these cool looking hens came up. We watched them
for a bit and my pup even sat and watched them up close so bravely for a while.
Zoey got spooked by a rooster crowing shortly after so we gave up searching.
I wanted to find a damn geocache so we set out for one last
one before dinner. I was getting a little frustrated because the compass was jumping
back and forth between telling me that I was 18 meters and 3 meters away from
the cache. ARG Eventually I find it and holy moly I was excited. Zoey nearly
bowled me over when I called her to the site to get her to stick close while I explored
the contents of the cache. Inside were stickers, a little plastic frog, pens, a
drywall screw, cards and a few other things. Joy! I was really enjoying this
actually finding it part.
I signed my name and put it back where I found it after exchanging
a pen for one of my own. So fun! I can't wait to find some more =)
