Idiot Moments

Good morning! Is it a good morning? It’s been a crazy morning so far for me. I was a bit of an idiot and forgot to put my work key back on my keychain last night. Now normally, I arrive at work at least 15 minutes early to eat breakfast and get anything that needs to be done in the office completed before I have to turn on any lights or welcome the clients waiting outside. It’s nice and quiet and I have a few moments to myself. This morning I arrived early with Timmies in hand and Zoey by my side as per usual. I grab my keys and look for the one that opens our lunchroom door to get in. Gone. No blue key. What? I look at the keychain over and over like an idiot before checking all my pockets. I run to the car and check the seats, floor, jacket pockets in there, the center console. Nowhere!
Now, this is normally where my anxiety kicks in and I blow up into an unbelievable mess. This time I was calm and collected which is kinda unusual. I make a few calls before finally my bosses wife answers. I feel like an idiot admitting to her what I managed to do but she’s my hero and rushes down to save me. I’m lucky I have understanding clients. Our resident wiener dog and his owner are fantastic and she had a laugh with me outside the front doors after I told her I would hold her pup so she could zip off to work. All said and done, we opened only a minute past 6:30. Not bad. Thanks Karen!
Ah, I still feel stupid though. I’ve been working since 2005 and I have NEVER ever done something like that. It was bound to happen and some point right? I guess I’m just lucky that they live up the road from the daycare.
Here’s to hoping that the rest of the day goes a little better.
