Bird Watching

It’s the last day of May! This year is blowing right on by. I remember as a kid, summers would seem to stretch on forever and a year at school seemed like an eternity. I really think time went by slower when I was younger. Being an adult really makes life zip right on past you. Perhaps it’s all the added responsibility that eats up your day. Being 6 is a pretty easy job. My biggest concern was losing my plastic dinosaurs in the lawn before my dad mowed the grass or catching the ice cream truck after a mad scrounge for change in the junk drawer.
I have nine more days left of dog sitting and then I’m FREE for the rest of July. As much as I love the dogs I watch, it will be really nice to have some free time and maybe get in some biking with the BF. Maybe then my days will go a little slower. 12 days left until my vacation to the island. I really can’t wait.
Today I took a few dogs for a walk and ended up feeling like an amateur bird watcher. First off a spotted  something called a black-headed grosbeak. I had never seen one before and they are pretty cool looking.

Next up on my birdie bingo I saw a mated pair of mallards, red-winged blackbird, sparrows, robins and juncos galore. I made my way to the river at the bend where I normally watch the eagles and plunked myself down to check it out. Crows were going nuts around the nest, trying to caw loud enough to piss off the momma and poppa eagles. Both of them just sat there like nothing was wrong in the world.
I ended up watching them for 20 minutes before ants started trying to eat me. Note to self, bring a good camera!
